Video Transcript: HSBC Wire Transfers DEMO. – Making a Wire Transfer

Welcome! HSBC customers can now enjoy an upgraded service to complete both Domestic and International Funds Transfers (also known as wires) through Personal Internet Banking. Besides an enhanced look-and-feel, you’ll benefit from real-time, competitive rates.

Section One: Making an international funds transfer (also known as a “remittance transfer”).

To begin, log on to Personal Internet Banking starting with your Username.

Next, enter your memorable answer and password.

If you are using a digital or physical HSBC Security Device to log on, you will need to generate a Security Code and then enter it on the screen.

Then select “Wire Transfers” from the left-hand menu. Click on the “Continue to Wire Transfer” button on the landing page.

You will be taken to the new wire service.

Now you’re ready to set up your wire transfer. First, select the recipient of the wire transfer. If you are paying someone new, you’ll learn how to add a new recipient in Section Two of this demo.

Then select the account from which you would like the funds taken. The drop-down will contain all your accounts that are eligible for wire transfers.

For international remittance transfers, choose the currency you want to make the remittance transfer in. As an added convenience, the currency will self-select to match, in most cases, the local currency of the country where the recipient’s bank is located. Please note that all domestic funds transfers can only be done in U.S. dollars.

Once you add your account details, fill in the amount you’re transferring. If you are transferring money to a foreign currency account, remember to select your Transfer Currency as the foreign currency of the receiving account. This way, you will know exactly what to expect in terms of currency exchange rates.

If you have chosen to send funds in a currency other than U.S. dollars, the system calculates a competitive rate in real-time. Because currency fluctuations occur continuously, your real-time quote will only be available for 20 minutes. If you fail to complete your transfer within the allotted time, you will be presented with an updated exchange rate. Remember, the system only supports immediate remittance transfers at this time.

Fees associated with a remittance or a domestic wire transfer will be shown on the Pre-Payment Disclosure. This allows you to understand who is responsible for the costs associated with the wire transfer BEFORE the wire transfer is complete.

You can enter a description of the payment, and if completing an international remittance transfer, a purpose of the payment for future reference.

To continue with your wire transfer, it’s necessary to read and accept the Funds Transfers Disclosure. Then click the “Continue” button to go to the next page.

Now you’re able to review the recipient details.

If you need to make a change, simply click the “Back” button to amend any wire transfer recipient details. Once you’re sure everything is correct, click “Continue” to proceed.

Finally, you can confirm wire transfer details, exchange rates if applicable, and any fees associated with the wire transfer. This allows you to understand the costs associated with the wire transfer BEFORE the wire transfer is complete, how these costs impact your account, and how they impact the final amount received by the recipient.

Click “Confirm” to continue.

Congratulations! Your wire transfer was successful.

You will receive a confirmation code for your reference and details of the wire transfer.

For your convenience, you can print a PDF version of your receipt from the confirmation screen.

To start a new funds transfer, click “Make another transfer.”

To return to Personal Internet Banking, click the “Back to my account” link.

That’s it! You have the information you need to make an international funds transfer through HSBC’s Wire Transfer Service on Personal Internet Banking. View Section Two to learn how to add a new recipient.
